A hand crafted pair of translucent untreated natural green Jadeite Jade and solid 14K yellow gold earrings. Dating to the Art Deco period this beautiful earrings are entirely hand made. They each feature a hand made floral motif design from which an exceptional cabochon of A type untreated jade is suspended as a flower. This drop is articulated and moves beautifully when the earrings are worn. As was common in the most expensive earrings of the time the fittings have posts and butterfly backs for pierced ears that screw together so that it is impossible to lose an earring.
Together they weigh 4.14 grams of solid gold. The pair are in excellent condition. Each exclusive earring is set with a total of 1 1/2 carats of precious untreated natural jadeite.
Making the total weight of the jadeite in the earrings 3 carats. They measure 1 7/16" long and are 1/2" wide at the widest (36.5mm x 12.0mm).
These days it is rare to see jadeite jewelry on the market which is set with untreated stones. Typically jadeite is dyed and/or bleached and polymer impregnated to improve it's look. These stones have little value in comparison to A-type untreated jadeite. These earrings are set with natural untreated A-type jadeite cabochons and are a rare find on the market today. According to ancient Chinese beliefs jade is believed to be closely related to the human body, and the energy of the jade and your body flow between each other.
It is often given by Chinese people as a gift that is worn all the time because the jade has become part of them and by giving it to a family member or close friend, they are giving a part of themselves. It is believed to protect the person who wears it and is a lucky gift to give or to receive.
